James Beard To Bohemian

James Beard To Bohemian

Chef Adam Hayes of the Grand Bohemian in Asheville, NC had the honor of an invitation to the famed James Beard House in NYC. He went with team this past September, and part of the ongoing celebration of that event was a re-create dinner for a select group of WNC local press and guests. It was held in the Black Forest Wine Room inside the Red Stag Grill. The hue was seductive low- light red and the ambience was amazing and intimate. Chef was on hand to take us step by step through the James Beard experience and described the careful attention to the menu, as it was intentionally a NC focused and procurred dinner. Got To Be NC, the NC Agriculture arm partnered to help bring in produce partners and other vendors such as Looking Glass Creamery and Brasstown Beef. Regional wine, spirits and brews were paired with each dish, some stars of the show, Cardinal Gin, Wicked Weed and Noble Hard Cider, as well as the Yadkin Valley Winery, McRitchie delighting with the superb “Ring of Fire” Claret. It was completely southern, yet sophisticated. The plan is to take the show on the road with a NC Dinner series launching in February 2014 throughout the state of NC and Chef Hayes of The Red Stag Grill at The Grand Bohemian has already been invited back to the Beard House for next September.
